We are trying to decide on a southern caribbean sailing in the fall. Have "narrowed it down" to 3 ships. The price on the Jubilee is best, and we don't mind that she is a bit older, but I have read of problems w/severe shaking and bathroom sewage odors in some cases. Other people have gone and not had the problems. If you have been on her, what was your experience regarding these issues, as well as any other "noise" issues from the ship or other passenger cabins nearby? PLEASE post your experiences, and WHICH CABIN you had. If you can't recall the number, what about the general location (forward, mid or aft) and the deck name? (We are looking at the Riviera deck, the Upper deck or the Main deck.) Would esp. enjoy hearing from those of you who have sailed her in recent weeks. Thanks for any input!
I sailed on the Jubilee about one year ago. (Sorry I can't give you a more recent perspective.) We were in cabin R85, an inside cabin. I have heard a lot about vibration from recent passengers, and we didn't experience that, so it may be a new problem. The bathroom odors, however, were very much present on our cruise. I brought along a can of spray air freshener and that helped a great deal, so it wasn't a "cruise-breaker" for us.
Overall, we had a great time. It was our first cruise, and really hooked us on cruising. Since then, I've taken cruises on newer and finer ships, so now I would probably book something newer over the Jubilee; but a cruise is what you make of it, and you can have a fun, enjoyable cruise on any vessel.
Hopefully someone who's cruised on the Jubilee more recently will reply as well. Good luck with your decision.
Cheers,
Michelle B.

We're booked on the Celebration in July. I've never been on either, but the Celebration is the sister ship of the Jubilee and sails the same area. She was just recently overhauled and is supposed to be beautiful. Also some talk of a vibration problems that was fixed during the overhaul. You might want to look into this ship instead.
Hey! We went on the Jubilee in July of 2001 in room u158 on the Upper deck. The room was awesome since it was right by the elevator. I have to say, we went on the Ecstasy before, and did notice some differences between the 2 classes, no atrium, no pool side stage, smaller pools, just stuff like that. As far as severe shaking or sewer problems, we had none. We still had an awesome time, but said we wouldn't go on an older ship again, but it was not for any reason that would make your vacation unenjoyable, but for the reasons listed above. We still had an awesome time, but like i said earlier, it was little things you notice if you have been on a larger ship. We are now booked on the Pride, a bit newer and bigger, and hope to enjoy that ship. I called CArnival the other day, and they informed me that "I wouldnt even recognise the Jubilee interior-wise" Due to a multi-milllion dollar "Face-Lift" They took out all of the bright colors that carnival used to have. Hearing that, i may try it again. But if the little things as previously mentioned dont bother you, GO!!!! Save the extra money, i know we didnt experience sewer or shaking problems. Ohhhhh, one time when we were in port the ship was leaning to a side!!! It was more funny than annoying bc you would see people walking down the hall slowly moving to one side!! But i'm sure thats not an every-cruise thing!! Sorry this was so long, have fun!!!

Thanks for the great report and info. You hit on something that is one thing I have worried about - ship size and decor. We were on the Pride in March of 2002 and I liked the improvements Carnival seemed to have made in just about everything since we had sailed on the Destiny when she was new. But low prices do mean a LOT! The other thing that does bother me a bit is there is no "day at sea". I really love to have some daytime sailing time and would really miss that. Things are up in the air now (even the date that we can go) and there are several ships we are considering, so who knows? Big decision!
