Default What is the best (cheapest) way to do Atlantis?

Hi all,
We are a family on a budget, and are trying to get the most bang for our buck. We will be in Nassau and we are interested in going to Atlantis. I would appreciate any info that you could share about Atlantis and how you got there. Is it possible to arrange your own transportation to Atlantis and still get to see it as if you were on a tour? Also, what does Atlantis charge for fee's associated with the resort.

Talk Soon

We were in Nassau a year and a half ago on the Fantasy. We were there for 24 hrs on that itinerary. We were able to catch a taxi/van over to Atlantis in the evening. There is no admission charge at night and you can tour the digs for free. We also walked around the entire resort and hung out there for awhile. They don't advertise that the digs are free at night because they want you to come during the day when they charge you 20+ per person. I'm sure they are much prettier during the day with the natural sunlight coming through the tanks and aquariums, but they are very nice at night too.
Hope this helps.

Susan

You can get a room for around 190.00 at the Comfort Suites and then 4 people can use everthing at Atlantis. Just did this for my wifes 40th birthday. She did a 3 day cruise with 6 other friends. I got them 2 rooms, it worked out great.

Taxi is $4 pp each way and there are plenty available at the end of the dock area and for return from Atlantis. The only charge at the Casino resort is for the tour of the Dig; the man made underground aquarium. This tour really includes an indepth tour of the property too both inside and outside. You can see some of the underground aquarium from one of the sunken restaurants off of the lobby. You cannot tour outside on your own. There is hotel security posted at most doors. They are protecting their paying guest. However, you can do it if you try. We did get all the way out to the Pyrimid Water Slide area. Food is very expensive on property, so skip that if you can.

We plan to take our family there next February when the Millennium docks at Nassau. Grampy & I went 2/2001. We had spent our 25th anniversary there before the multi-million dollar renovation. It was fund to find our old room.
Bon voyage

The water taxi in September was $3 pp each way. On the taxi a small narrative is given explaining some of the local residents and customs. You can tour the Atlantis on your own without going through the digs for free. You can see the aquarium, shops, lobby, some grounds, restaurants, and casino.

It is a bit of a walk from the water taxi pier to the Atlantis, (about 1/4 mile). You can gain access to the beach by walking past the Sheraton and entering a public beach access road on the edge of the property.

Regards,
Thomas

I'm with Sooshie, this is exactly what we did when we were there. Take a cab after dinner and you can tour the digs and aquarium for free. No need to rent a room and no need to pay. During the day what you can see for free is VERY limited. Wait til night and save your money. This way you can do a day tour or shop during the day time. Happy sailing!
