Hi, I am going on the Glory in April 2004. I wondered what kind of military discount that Carnival typically gives? They can't tell me yet, I wondered if anyone knows what it's been in the past? This year the discount is great- because of the war but we have to wait until 2004. BooHoo!!
What I do recall about the past military discounts is that they didn't really apply to 3rd and 4th person in the cabin. They did, but a really small discount, per se. The past guest discount usually was better when comparing the two.
This year, the military discount is wonderful. Our family will be taking a Thanksgiving cruise on the Pride. We went from a past guest discount of $1030/pp to $767/pp military discount for an extended balcony on the panorama deck! Needless to say we're thrilled. Sure you can't go this year ??? They seem to be "giving" it away for military personnel.
Also check on base at your military ticket and tours off. They have specials on cruises, not all the time but it is certainly worth keeping your eye on....
We are retired military now but I sure keep up with all that is offered on base and use it when I can...Happy cruising.
Of our two upcoming July cruises - the Sensation 4 day (over July 4th weekend) and the Glory (7 day July 19th) - the rates on the Sensation dropped $200 pp for a 6a (from $573 to $373) when the military discount was added. I seem to recall on the Glory we received about $50 off per person (Cat 8a)...
Carnival told me it really depends on which cruise, when, and how booked it already is -that determines the true value of the discount - so it can change daily... just like their standard fares.
... and by the way, is it only me, or do others see no point in paying more for a "higher cat" - from 8a to 8d for example.... it is the exact same room, simlpy a different deck...!
