Where is the best place to be dropped off to board the ship (Carnival Victory)? Are there porters to assist you?

Your documents should tell you which pier the ship will be docked. I suggest you get dropped off right in front of that pier. There will be porters there to help with luggage, as soon as you enter the doorway. We left last year on the Triumph, and got to the pier by 10:45. It was a great time b/c we were almost first in line for the boarding process, and one of the firsts on the ship. People that arrived about 11:15, and after, had to wait in very long lines.

Our boarding started at 11:30 on 5/13 and we were in our cabin at 12:05.
We arrived at the pier at 9:45 and the line formed at 11AM.
The time went fast waiting - the excitement takes over the waiting time.

I read in my Welcome Aboard book which came with my documents that embarkation in New York begins at 1:30pm. It says that check-in begins 30 minutes before. What time is recommended to get to the New York pier without being last and not having to wait a long time either. Thank you for any advise...

I've gotten to the pier in New York early and have found that they usually start to board earlier than what is stated in the passenger ticket booklet.
