Default online auctions?

Has anyone ever bought a cruise from an online auction? Is it safe? I was checking out sky auction they had some good deals. I was thinking about a w. caribbean cruise in sept. Should I check out an online auction or go with a TA?

I personally wouldn't go with an online auction as if you read the fine print there are additional charges tacked on to your auction bid win. Therefore, it isn't much of a savings. At least with a TA you have the communication and can contact them directly.
I booked my next cruise via www.bestpricecruise.com and even called them to find out the prices and they seemed really nice and knowledgeable and they beat any price I could find on any online site and even my local TA which told me he could not beat their price.

I have booked 2 cruises w/ skyauction but you REALLY need top do your homework and check prices (including taxes and port charges and upgrades + fee )all skyauction cabins tend to be inside unless listed better). I am pleased but I notice MANY paying more than the inside GTY rate at the time of purchase. In botyh instances got a very good price and competent service including an e-mail re: document delivery so I could arrange acceptance.

Online auctions are very difficlut to understand and you may not get what you want anyway. Like other posters have said, there are additional charges beside the bid prive that you need to consider etc so you may not get a very good deal after all is said and done. Some people swear by them, some swear at them, your choice. I would not do it again as my savings was not that much after it was finally over with.

24 cruises and counting!
