Default Gift Certificates

I'm trying to figure out how I can avoid having such a large sign-n-sail balance at the end of our cruise. Here's an idea:

I was thinking about buying gift certificates on Carnival's website from now until we leave. That way, I can gradually pay for things and not have the shocking balance.

Has anyone ever done this? If so, what are the advantages and disadvantages?

Thanks for your help!

Mindy

Any other ideas on how to pay for things gradually instead of seeing that huge bill at the end of the cruise?

I think this is a great idea. I have purchased one (4) ticket and plan to get more before the cruise. From what I have read, these work great for mixed drinks, saving a little over a $1.00 per drink. If you drink beer, it is cheaper to pay as you go because they are cheaper then each coupon.
