Default Glory arrival

Anyone planning on being at Port Canaveral on Friday to get a few photos of the Glory when it arrives?

I can't take credit for finding the pictures though, found this link in another forum and I was so excited! Can't wait!

Dave...We were thinking of driving over from Orlando Sat. AM. I heard that she won't be in port until Fri. evening. Does anyone have any arrival info? We're not sailing until Nov. 8,
so we'll have plenty of time to get a sneak peek before then. We're just 45 min. away. May the GLORY be with you!! Jack

She's officially scheduled to arrive at 3:30 pm Friday but I would get there a little earlier if possible. They'll start letting the public in the parking area around 2:30pm. When I went to see the arrival of the Conquest in New Orleans (she had sailed from Italy two weeks earlier) last November she arrived about a half hour earlier than the press releases had indicated. It was an awesome sight to see people lining the banks of the Mississippi River, waving at the crew of the Conquest and having them wave back. She was surrounded by fireboats shooting plumes of water into the air and sounded a long horn salute just as she passed in front of the Riverwalk Mall. Everyone clapped! If you're close enough to go see her arrive today I would highly recommended.

Just checked Kroooz-Cam and the one for Port Canaveral is pointed a little different than usual, more towards the entry than the where they dock!

Didn't appear to be in sight yet! I'll keep checking, and actually I thought it was the 12th!

Susie

P.S. Can't wait until Sept. 13th when I'm Glory Bound!

We live about an hour away from Port Canaveral and will be going to the Glory's christening. Will post pictures on our website when we get back.

Just got home after watching the Glory sail up the Port Canaveral channel with an array of fireboats and helicopters accompanying her into the port. What a sight! She is really huge, not by length so much as height. This ship really reaches for the clouds! I heard today that by next year Carnival will have 2 more Conquest-class ships in service (one will be the Carnival Liberty and I didn't get the name of the other one). May the Glory be with you! We'll be with the Glory on 11/8/03,
W. Carib. Jack

BTW the Glory appears a bit shorter than the Spirit-class ships, but she makes it up with her beam. She is really wide! And tall! And very lovely. What a woman!

They re-positioned the web cam and now you can see the front of the ship at the dock!
Looking great and I cannot wait for September 13th! Thanks, Christopher, I'll be sure to check your website!

Thanks Sue,
I'll have to take another look :-) Jack, I did notice the fireboats, but couldn't see the helicopters. It is quite noticable that this ship is very high.

Donna et al,
There were 2 small helicopters that hovered and circled near the Glory, fore & aft. It looked at times that they were going to land on the ship, they flew so close. The whole scene was awesome, with all the attendant ceremony ... the people on the beach at Jetty Park cheering and the crewmembers waving from the vessel. And in the midst of it all, this beautiful ship! I hope some other CMs from the area were able to get to the port today
to see this spectacle.
Jack
