The Hampton Inn is nice and reasonably priced in San Juan. It is close to the airport, not to the port. It has a nice pool area, helpful front desk staff, and a nice conteinetal breakfast that is included in the price.
If you want close to the port look for Old San Juan hotels. There are people who have gotten some great deals on priceline for hotels in Old San Juan.
I have been searching and searching and I have found that the inns and guest houses are a way better deal!!( from a canadian dollar point of view)
Try the El Canario by the sea, its small, but perfect for one night and its in the condada area! We are looking at the Aleli by the sea or Wind chimes inn.
here is some websites www.atwindchimesinn.com
Aleli by the sea does not have a web page , but there # is (787) 725-5313
We also found lots of places more reasonable ( from a canadian dollar point of view)
go to where to stay and you will find lots of little inns and guesthouses with pools and fantastic tropical continental breakfasts!
have a blast!!
I paid $90/night for the 5 star Intercontinental Resort in Isla Verde, San Juan, for the precruise stay, and paid $70/night for the 4 star Caribe Hilton in the Condado, San Juan, area for the postcruise stay. Both hotels were bid/booked through Priceline.com.
The Caribe Hilton is nicer than the Intercontinental imo. Give Priceline.com a try.
The best deal I know of is an upscale hotel in Old San Juan called the Hotel Milano starting at $65.00 a night, including breakfast, within walking distance of the cruise port and free trolleys that go all over Old San Juan. They also have a rooftop restaurant called the Panorama Bar and Latin Grill, which has a full view of the harbor. You can view the information on the internet at www.hotelmilano.com or see them featured on www.virtualtourist.com/vt/191c9c/s/ By being within walking distance to the port, you can save transportation costs by only needing one cab ride, that being from the airport. If gambing is important to you, it's only a few blocks to the Wyndham Hotel and casino. If your budget is really tight or have kids, it's only 2 blocks to the Hard Rock Cafe, McDonalds and Pizza Hut. That's all I can think of right now. Smooth Sailing.
I guess being Canadian they really sock it to us!! We where quoted 115.00+9%tax
at hotel Milano!
I have never bidded before could someone give me some advice and can canadians bid??? We can't get the carnival card cause we are canadians!!
$90/night is pretty good for an Intercontinental. We're booked there on 9/13 before departing on the Destiny. I used Priority Club points so free was a great price. How far is the Intercontinental from the port?
The Intercontinental is very close to the airport. I don't remember the exact distance in miles but it is about a 15-20 minutes taxi ride to the Old San Juan and cruise dock. I think the taxi cost somewhere between $15 and $20. I was on the Destiny in June.
