It seems that on every Carnival cruise that we sail, the capers always have things scheduled for "friends of Bill W.". I have never bothered to ask who he was so I thought I would throw the question out here. Is this some kind of elite group for those who are staying in suites?
Unless you go to AA meetings or have asked this question before you would not be familiar with the name. He founded AA. Those meetings drove my husband and I crazy for a few years till we thought to post the question on the boards. I think it is a great idea and I'm sure it is harder to stay sober on a cruise so the meetings are there to help.
You may also notice on some cruise lines that they have "Friends of Dorothy" meetings. These meetings are for Gay and Lesbian travelers.
I thought the captain or some other celebrity was "Bill W", and I didn't
want to miss out on anything. I attended, was warmly recieved, informed,
and asked to never NEED to come back. One of the ladies at the meeting
said people like me show up all the time to see what is going on.
Who would have thought all those nice, neat, regular people were drunks.
I think I will start a "friends of Joemo" for all us fat people.
It works for the drunks, maybe it would work for us fat people.
Re: Who is Bill W.????? YOU MUST READ THIS EVERYONE CARNIV
You wouldn't believe this but My father is Bill W. and my mother is Lois W and when the sign said on the ship "Friends of Bill and Lois W here.." they bought drinks and went inside and started carrying on thinking that our traveling friends set up some kind of surprise.
Ahem.. it didnt go over so well,
They were in their forties and this was Carnival Holiday 1992.
I was 14 then.
it makes a great story
