When I checked with them in April they no longer allowed cruise parking at the Holiday Inn, that is why we are staying at the Hilton pre-cruise. They have a secured lot that you park in and they will shuttle you to the port, and pick you up.
I have not stayed at the Commodore, have seen it from Seawall. I have heard that it is a clean basic place to stay.
We are fortunate that my DH travels a lot for work, and he has points for free hotels. That is why the Hilton pre-cruise and the Holiday Inn post-cruise.
We hope to arrive at Galveston late afternoon, depends on how hard it is to wake the boys to leave from Fort Worth. We could do the drive in one very long day, but chose to break it up into a day and a half instead.
We are down to 3 weeks! We got our docs and are eagerly counting down!!! Unfortunately, I have recently been diagnosed with basal skin carcinoma. I just have to take extreme precautions in the sun. Any suggestions??? Yes, I got a big hat and will bring mucho sun screen.
There is a product made by Rit dye that you put in the wash with clothing to add an SPF factor to the clothing. You might give that a try. Extra protection couldn't hurt!
We also burn easily and have had skin cancer in the family. We use Bull Frog sunblock, it seems to work well in the Carib. sun, and has pretty good staying power in the water.
Sorry to hear the bad news.
I'll look for the Rit product today. I didn't even know anything like that existed. Thanks for the suggestion. I've always been a sun worshipper (hence my problem), but I just have to be more careful in the future.
Ours came July 24th. We freaked out b/c I had them send the documents to my parents' house and FedEx left it behind a bush in our front yard and we thought someone came by and stole it. I was with my aunt, who is my travel agent, on the phone and she was telling me she would have to get them to reissue the documents and that would cost more money, blah blah blah. Then my dad yelled that he found it behind a bush. We would have never known they were behind that bush if my dad didn't actively go looking behind everything in the front yard. But, we have them and I'm relieved. Now I'm ever more excited about the cruise!!!
The pineapple man is a drink in a hollowed out pineapple, very tropical!
Finally got the docs today, now I can relax about them!
Would you like to meet at the Aft pool bar area on the Lido deck for the Sail Away? We will have the drill to do first, and then after returning those lovely life preservers to our cabins we could meet for a "frozen thingy" and set sail together. On past cruises we have worn Madi Gras beads to find eachother, what do you think?
