Great, glad to hear that we won't be alone on the ship! Sent you an e-mail, hope that is OK?

We are sailing then, too. This will be our third, first out of Galveston. We're driving down from the Tulsa area, staying in Galveston the 24th. Can't wait--counting the days!!!

Oops, hit the wrong button!

We are staying at the Hilton on Seawall on the 24th, and the Holiday Inn when we return. Want to extend the vacation a little!

I lived in Tulsa and the surrounding area in the mid 80's. Like it there!

We will be driving down from St. Joseph, MO.

This will be our fourth CCL cruise. Scaled down this time so we could bring my sons friend.

Anyone interested in meeting once we are on board?

Will the Holiday Inn allow you to park there during the cruise for free? We're staying at the Commodore only because they will, never been there before, nor to Galveston for that matter.

We're also booked on the Elation 12/21.

Our 3rd cruise, 2nd Carnival.

When I checked with them in April they no longer allowed cruise parking at the Holiday Inn, that is why we are staying at the Hilton pre-cruise. They have a secured lot that you park in and they will shuttle you to the port, and pick you up.

I have not stayed at the Commodore, have seen it from Seawall. I have heard that it is a clean basic place to stay.

We are fortunate that my DH travels a lot for work, and he has points for free hotels. That is why the Hilton pre-cruise and the Holiday Inn post-cruise.

We hope to arrive at Galveston late afternoon, depends on how hard it is to wake the boys to leave from Fort Worth. We could do the drive in one very long day, but chose to break it up into a day and a half instead.

Hi Liane, we have also discovered how fun it is to take a cruise newbie with you! We are taking my sons friend along, and his excitement has increased ours!

We are down to 3 weeks! We got our docs and are eagerly counting down!!! Unfortunately, I have recently been diagnosed with basal skin carcinoma. I just have to take extreme precautions in the sun. Any suggestions??? Yes, I got a big hat and will bring mucho sun screen.

There is a product made by Rit dye that you put in the wash with clothing to add an SPF factor to the clothing. You might give that a try. Extra protection couldn't hurt!
We also burn easily and have had skin cancer in the family. We use Bull Frog sunblock, it seems to work well in the Carib. sun, and has pretty good staying power in the water.
Sorry to hear the bad news.

I'll look for the Rit product today. I didn't even know anything like that existed. Thanks for the suggestion. I've always been a sun worshipper (hence my problem), but I just have to be more careful in the future.

Thre weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ours came July 24th. We freaked out b/c I had them send the documents to my parents' house and FedEx left it behind a bush in our front yard and we thought someone came by and stole it. I was with my aunt, who is my travel agent, on the phone and she was telling me she would have to get them to reissue the documents and that would cost more money, blah blah blah. Then my dad yelled that he found it behind a bush. We would have never known they were behind that bush if my dad didn't actively go looking behind everything in the front yard. But, we have them and I'm relieved. Now I'm ever more excited about the cruise!!!

Experiencing anxiety!!!!! No docs today yet, maybe tomorrow.

Would anyone be interested in a "get together" once we board?

Sure, we could toast our good fortune with a nice fruity drink! I never drink those things except on cruises. Something has to remain sacred.

I keep seeing something about a "pineapple man" around these chatboards. Any clue what kind of drinks those are?

The pineapple man is a drink in a hollowed out pineapple, very tropical!

Finally got the docs today, now I can relax about them!

Would you like to meet at the Aft pool bar area on the Lido deck for the Sail Away? We will have the drill to do first, and then after returning those lovely life preservers to our cabins we could meet for a "frozen thingy" and set sail together. On past cruises we have worn Madi Gras beads to find eachother, what do you think?
