Default Cozumel: Speed boat excursion or jeep excursion?

Has anyone done the excursion in Cozumel where they teach you to drive your own speedboat and then you take off to a beach? If so, how was it? What kind of condition are the boats in? Also, has anyone ever done any of the Jeep excursions or the beach buggies? Any info would be appreiciated! Thanks!

We just got back a couple of weeks ago from cruising on the Triumph and we took the eco-jeep tour on Cozumel. We really enjoyed it. They put 4 people to a jeep so if you want to drive you may have to swap up. First they take you to a local village to see some old misson ruins and do some shopping if you want to and then it is off to a wildlife park that has a lighthouse on a beautiful point that you can climb and explore and then to a saltwater lake that has crocs there that they feed and bring them up close to you on a walkway. (Cool) Then you go off roading for a couple of miles and I mean "off roading". Lots of fun. Then you go to a snorkling area and you can snorkle or just swim for about 45 minutes to a hour (beautiful underwater fish) and then back to the dock area. Tour last about 4 to 4.5 hours. Highly recommend. All jeeps are equiped with radios that the tour leader can talk to you and tell about all the areas you are visiting. They have a lead jeep and a follow jeep so no one can get lost. Hope this helps.

While in Cozumel last week we did Xcaret, many did the Jeef Safari. Make sure you know where you are going as the Jeep Safari left with us on a ferry from the ship to the mainland in Playa something or other, very upscale. The ferry is a 40 minute boat ride and the Jeef Safari folks returned with us on a 7pm ferry, arriving at the ship at about 7:40. The only downside is that if you shower and eat on the ship there is little or no time to see Cozumel. Other jeep trips may be shorter and stay on the Cozumel.
