Hi my two cousins and I are going on the Carnival Inspiration on January 11th. Is anyone else going? Has anyone been on this ship. It's cruising to the Western Caribbean. I'd love to hear how your experiences were, if you've been on the ship or if you have been to any of those ports of call. We are going to the Caymans and I am very excited. I'm a turtle lover and can't wait to get to the Turtle Farm.
Hey..Was on the Inspiration on 7/20/03 to western caribbean. Here's my rundown: Food was ok to good, burgers on the lido deck- real good....always a line for them. If you like sushi, theres a pretty good one in one of the inside lounges by the casino. Staff was friendly & great everwhere, they couldnt do enough for you. Rooms always clean. Decor was a bit cheesy, Vegas style. Shows were ok...comics were good. Thought there'd be more nighttime activities w/good music around lido deck (only one night) but no such luck. Thought it was a bit limited for a "Fun Ship". Was in a group of 8 so we made a lot of our own fun & mingled a lot. Met some cool people.
Excursions: do research on the net or haggle once you get off the boat. You'll save a lot of money. Did a snorkeling/ stingray tour from caymanislandsdiscount.com. Loved it!
-Took a taxi to the beach in costa maya & did some wandering. Had fun.
-Took a city tour in Cozumel for $20 & our guide (Hector) took us everywhere. He was a real sweetie! If you decide to do somthing like that...once you're off the boat, walk past the souvenir strip, past the shops to a large wooden/straw awning (I think) where there are other non-ship tour guides (by a parking lot). He was in his early 20's, wearing his company uniform. Of course I cant remember the name...sorry.
- In Belize, we had a great time doing the cave tubing. Its about an hour ride to the location. Make sure you haggle the price. We met a guy (had cornrows/ about 40) with a picture tourist sign. A guy from the tender ferry recommended him. We haggled from 65 to $40. Bring water shoes. its approx a 30min walk to caves to start tubing. We loved it!
** Hope this info helped....have a great time!
Re: Re: Going on the Inspiration 1/11is anyone else?
Thanks for the info guys! It's definately a real help. I am definately going to look into the tours off of the ship. I've heard from others you can save a decent amount of money.
MP......I have a question for you, you said about the nightime entertainment. How are the bars and clubs? They don't have a club open everynight? Our ages are 21-25 so we are looking foward to the nightclubs and bars on the ship. If you could give me more info about that that would be great. Also I've heard from others that the chairs by the pool get full quickly, someone suggested getting up early and putting something on a few chairs so we'd have them when we went up to the pool.
Rachel- Since we went in July when most parents go w/their kids (pre-teens/teens), their seemed to be a lot of teens in the "Rock & Roll" club w/the teen pop music. Once 12midnight hit, they were supposed to be out, but sometimes they were allowed past the time. On some nights, music was slammin where we stayed until 3 or 4am. Other nights, dj didnt seem to be into it & we left real early. The bars & lounges are ok depending on what type of fun people were around. You could throw out requests & sing along. "Sweet Caroline" & "You've lost that lovin feeling" was sung to death! Too much! It just all depends on people around. Some nights were fun...others a little blah. But we mingled & had fun.
Pool chairs- they do fill up quick & always tried to get up early on our "fun day at sea" but never got there until 10am or 11. We always managed to find chairs anyway, threw our towels on them, & went off to breakfast. Some advice: try to put something along w/towel (ex: shirt or book) so no one moves your towel & takes your chair.
Have a fun time!
