Default upgraded 9 categories!

I'm thrilled! Just heard from my TA (Katrina) today and we moved from a 7a obstructed balcony to a 8i large balcony on the Spirit, Jan. 18. Not only that , the price was reduced by $160! I guess it does still pay to book early (Feb. '03) Anyway, we are happy. Still 4and half months to go. Will be a long winter here in Juneau before we can get out of here.

A good travel agent can do wonders. We've been upgraded on every ship. You found a good one.

We booked four rooms together- one group booked a category 11 (Empress Deck -which is deck 7) with a balcony and the other three of us booked Riveria Deck (deck 1) with a guarentee, and all three couples were upgraded to the Empress Deck also!! Dunno if it's cuz we booked all together or if it's cuz we were past Carnival Cruisers but we were very happy with the seven floor upgrade!

Im on the Dec. 17th Spirit southern route in 7157 which is an 8G. Aside from going up to the Panorama the next upgrade for me would be a suite........ ONE COULD ONLY HOPE! Actually it would probably spoil me.....

SPOIL ME BABY SPOIL ME!!!!

We booked at 6A and just got upgraded to and 8A guarantee. I'm thrilled! Our cruisemates booked at 4a and got upgraded to 6a guarantee! Anything after this would be a bonus.

Sterling Silver,

We're hoping for an upgrade when we sail on the Elation in Dec.

I'm sure you'll be ready to find the sun in Jan.

Wishing you sunny skies and calm seas from another Alaskan!!

How are you finding out?
Is you TA calling you or are you calling them?
Are you calling Carnival directly?
Just curious..........

I actually called Carnival directly and asked what the cost would be if I booked a 7a today (not telling them that I already was booked). They gave me the new lower price and the potential upgrades, so I called mTA the next day and then she called Carnival and did even better. Bottom line, you need to keep in touch with your TA and tell them to keep checking prices for you. They don't always check automatically.

I agree with Sterling Silver. I am leaving this Sunday on the Paradise and just decided to call my TA to see if prices had dropped. She called Carnival to check on prices and since I had already paid in full we got upgraded from Riviera deck with no window (4A)to Empress deck, ocean view(6D)!

Hey AKcruiser,
Yeh, these winters can get pretty long and dark. Are you in the interior? A Cruise in Dec. or Jan really helps break up the winter, but then there is still a lot left when we get back! Would really like to do one in December and another in March. Maybe someday... Where is the Elation in Dec? Not still the Mex. Riviera is it? Have a great cruise.
Ships won't be here in Juneau much longer. Last one stops here on Sept. 25. We love walking the pier and looking in the windows. Really does get the juices flowing!

Sterling Silver,

I am in Anchorage. A Feb cruise is really better for us because it is usually really cold and dreary, but I have use it or lose it vacation time before the end of the year. The Elation will be sailing out of Galveston to Progresso, MX Belise, SA and Cozumel, MX. We haven't booked our flights yet (waiting for the PFD). If they get booked, we'll probably have to go in Nov (break my heart). No way am I taking vacation time and staying here in the winter!!!!!

Sterling,

We are cruising on the Triumph in December, and seriously thinking about the CruiseMates cruise out of Baltimore on the Miracle the end of April. That should brighten up my winter especially if it is anything like last winter here in Massachusetts.

Way to go Varlene! I am of the opinion that our TA's usually do not call Carnival unless we ask them to, and often times that call brings us either upgrades or credits. Have a great smoke-free cruise! I can't wait to try the Paradise sometime.
