Default staying on ship in port

While at one of the ports we plan to stay on the ship. Are all services available? Will there be water in the pools when in port.? A few years ago, our ship emptied it's pools while in port. I don't know if this is the norm.

The stores and casinos close while in port but everything else is up and operating. It is a great time to enjoy an empty (or at least emptier) pool area and ship. There are also spa discounts while in port if you are interested in that.

After reading your other post, I reccommend you take a tour in Jamaica and then you can return to the ship to enjoy it with way less people on board. We often go ashore and do our shopping etc then return for lunch and enjoy the ship without the crowds!!

hi rdtogo

i just got off the carnival spirit and while we were in port the shops and casino were closed. but all the pools and other lounges were open. also this is a good time to get a massage or any thing you would want at the spa. they have special prices for port days. it is nice to have a somewhat empy ship to get the best seats in the lido deck or in the pool area. also the bartenders get a little bored and love to strike up a conversation on those days. have a great time.

I was on the Fantasy in June and the casino was open while in Nassau. I knew this to be unusual and asked the blackjack dealer how it was the casino was open when on all the other cruises aboard this vessel it was closed when in port. He said the cruiseline made a deal with the local officials and then he quietly made the motion of peeling off money out of his hands.

Don't know if the other cruiselines can now keep their casinos open in Nassau, but Carnival now can, or at least they could in the summer.

Regards,
Thomas
