Is there any secret to getting a good price when cruising solo? I've always gone with someone else - but I'm considering going by myself on one. I really could use the time away from hubby. I want a private balcony - so I'm thinking of the newer ships that have the balconies without having to get a suite to get it.

Janet Lynn - usually if you want more than an inside cabin, you will pay 200% of the cruise fare. For the inside cabins (Carnival has cat 1A's which are insides) I believe the rate is 150%. It really is more expensive to cruise alone, especially if you want a balcony cabin for yourself (I know, I am doing this on the Island Princess in October.)
