Just returned from the Paradise yesterday. Customs is now allowing Express Disembarkation to anyone who can carry all their own luggage off the ship with no assistance and who have paid any customs due. They get to walk off the ship with their luggage for about an hour from approximately 7:30 a.m to 8:30 a.m. A great new benefit for anyone who wants to get off earlier and for those who want to leave slower will have to sort through less bags in the terminal. About 600 passengers took advantage of it!
Can you tell me after you were walking out there like you stated from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. what you did then? How did you get to the airport and where did you pay your customs due etc. Do you mean that they only allowed an hour for 600 to get off early..Did getting off early mean you get your own way to the airport? What are you referring to when you say sorting through luggage? thanks for your reply Brenda<><
I didn't do it, but I'm sure there were taxis waiting, and I suspect Carnival had their bus transfers available. It really wouldn't take long for 600 people to walk straight off the ship with their luggage in tow.
The comment about sorting through luggage meant: Normally, you are allowed off the ship based on your luggage tag color. Then you walk off the ship in to the terminal. Everyone's luggage with that tag color is together ... so there's hundreds of bags that look alike, and you have to walk around looking for your luggage, and multiple pieces are never together for some reason. It's the most frustrating part of the cruise, in my opinion, but I try to keep a smile on my face.
