I found a pair online. They are made by Ryka and they look just like regular tennis shoes but specifically designed to be used in the water! They were $60 with shipping, however. I have heard many people state they have found the ones that are more like 'socks" at discount stores such as Wal-Mart but I have yet to see them at this time of year.

RYKA, makes Aqua Sneakers. I own them for my Aqua Aerobics Classes. You don't need to spend that kind of money just for the beaches and water climbs. Aqua Socks or shoes are about $5 at Walmart or Kmart. I know it is the end of the season, but sometimes even a large Drug store like Walgreens or Eckerds still have them around. If you only need them for your cruise, I suggest you try to find a canvas pair of sneakers which also sell for about $5 in low budget type department stores.
Good Luck & Bon Voyage

Nanatravel,

Are aqua shoes ok for the cave tubing in Belize or do we need canvas tennis shoes?

Thanks,

Having done the cave tubing before with aqua socks I would highly recommend wearing the canvas tennis shoes. The path you have to walk on to the place you enter the river is a pebbled trail and my feet were so sore after walking on it with the aqua socks. They didn't provide enough padding so it felt like I was walking right on the rocks.

AK, sorry I didn't see your response sooner. NO, aqua shoes will slip off in the walk and there is no support. We went in April with Reggie. I used my $5 pair of canvas sneakers. DH had KMart $5 teva style sandals that have the velcro straps. Those worked very well for him. He hates sandals, so I would never pay a lot. He likes these now to wear to the pool, etc. Good luck finding some. Check out your low discount stores and don't hesitate to ask a department manager or co-worker at Walmart or Kmart, etc. even stores like Walgreens might have put some in the "back". Also, if you are doing a pre-cruise at FLL or Miami, you could check out stores there along 17th or in plaza's near your hotel. Eckerds carries everything. Don't forget a waterproof camera with a wrist strap for your Cave Tubing adventure.

You can also check out online, such as Old Navy and Target in their clearance section. They have summer things in there as well.

Nana and Gail, I'll have to do that!! may even have to look for plain ole canvas tennis shoes online too. Our summer gear here goes on sale in early Aug or even late July. We are expecting snow this weekend....can't wait to get on the cruise!!!

We got ours at KMart, but don't worry if you don't find them... they are for sail on the ship. At least on the Conquest they were. I belive about 12 bucks a pair.

I feel sure the mall beside the ship terminal will have those as they have numerous tropical shops. Don't know how easy these would be to find in the mid-west.

Bayside Market place right next to the port has them. We bought them there on our last trip. We are also from up north (montréal) and were not able to find them in the dead of winter. I sugegst that those of you who are travling in the faal/winter months take advantage of summer sales since afterwards it may be difficult to find what you are looking for. I also recommend that if you put your summer cloths away for the season that you pack a small bag with things you might be needing for your trip. Have fun and enjoy....

Sailing in 120 days!!!!!!!!
