cruise reservations ahead

we hope to go with a family of 10, 3 generations in summer of 2005. is it too far ahead to make plans and reservations 1 year ahead of time. have the routes been set by each cruise ship at that point for the next summer? we really want to do the western carribean, jamaica, cozumel, and the caymans and be on one of the bigger ships for carnival. any info about how far ahead some of you made reservations. thank you patty
