we plan to go summer of 2005. western carribean. for 4 kids ages 5 to 13, are we basically talking about shorts, tshirts, cool tops, sandals and sneakers for days. for dinner summer dresses for girls and short sleeve sport shirt with tie, and dockers for 8 year old boy. does he really need a tie or not? we really want to have everyone for dinner in the main dining room at night. do we need jackets or sweaters of any sort in summer. i would imagine the only time it might get even a bit chilly would be at night on deck. am i correct.? really hate to pack and haul anything unecessary with us . we are flying from pennsylvania and want to travel as light as possible for flying. it will be quite warm here at that time of year and we will not need anything heavy even to traavel in. thanks patty
Just got back from the itinerary you mentioned. You need to relax, you have way too many worries for a cruise that's over a year off. I'm not even sure Carnival has brochures out yet to cover 2005.
The bars can be quite cool all the time. I wore sun dresses to dinner except on formal night and wasn't cold in the dining room. I did dress up for formal nights and my husband wore a dark suit. Other nights he wore short sleeve shirts and dockers.
Formal nights on Carnival you see everything - including jeans and t-shirts in the dining room. Yes, a boy will look all right with just a collared shirt and dockers. There are many opportunites for portrait picture taking on formal nights, although it isn't forced on you as in the past. If everyone in the family is going on this trip it would be a good opportunity for a family portrait without the usually sitting fees.
