Key West is very wealkable, and alot to see.. shops, bars & food! Many little shops near the dock.. try some rum cake!
Youj can also walk to the Hemmingway house, but a little farther.. also can see the Truman White House.. and the farthest point south marker.. You porbably are in in the early AM... so walk the furthest out and head back, or take a tram... If you're there at night, there's a great Sunset festival at the pier. LOTS of FUN asnd true Key's moods...

Re: Re: Glory--Key West--getting from pier to town
Just checked your boat.. You're there at a great time! Noon-6pm, just in time for the show.. Just stay close to the boat @ sunset.... Have fun.. and a Margaritta for me! I leave for Cozumel and points SW on the 21st...
I was thinking of doing some sightseeing and maybe renting a kayak from Blue Planet. I'm trying to find out where their rental/launch site is and if it's walkable from the pier, and whether I'll even have time for this.
Too little time, too much to see!!!
Does the ship give you walking/shopping maps to get around?
Re: Re: Glory--Key West--getting from pier to town
Yes, if you go to the pre-port talks, you can get maps.
If it were me, I'd save the excursions for Belize or Progreso.... Cozumel & KW are very easy to do on your own, and both great places for shopping and site-seeing, which Belize and Progreso are reported to not be....
I also think you'd find a lot of Pleasure boat traffic @ KW, which you would not in the other places...
If you do walk around, just make sure you get off the main drags.. some really interesting housing stock in the area, very photogenic....
You can take a tour on the "Conch Train". It will take you on a lovely tour of the entire Key West area. the town it's self is only about one mile square. You walk about a block to get on it and ride. It is actually a bus and not a train. You can see the locations of all the sights in town. The time is about an hour and a half. That gives you plenty of time to walk around and see other sights. You may want to see the museum of Mel Fisher and some of the artifacts recovered from the Atocha. That is a wonderful display with things from pins and needles to gold chains and bars.
