Just got back today from our 7-day Pride cruise to Mexico. Watch for my intensive review coming later this week.
I was in a group of 16 who booked 9 cabins of varying categories. We booked through an internet travel agent, who gave us a great deal, but did nothing as far as perks or attempting to get us any upgrades.
Four couples booked extended balconies and were assigned cabin numbers at time of booking. They all received exactly what they booked.
Three couples booked an inside guarantee and at the the time of sailing were upgraded all the way to a balcony cabin with no obstructions (I was one of these lucky people.) We felt kind if guilty, as we had the same cabin as others in our group who paid double. This was about an 8 category upgrade. This was done by Carnival and not by our agent. Needles to say, I was happy.
One single person in our group booked an inside guarantee and paid the single supplement. She was upgraded to an outside cabin.
Unfortunatley, the last person in our group was also a single with an inside guarantee, and ended up with an inside cabin. We felt sorry for her, and tried to hide our excitement of a huge upgrade when around her.
After reading comments by others on these boards, I was surprised that three couples in our group were upgraded to balconies from inside guarantees. Our gamble paid off.
My TA got us a upgrade on last cruise, he called to check if price had dropped two
weeks before our sailing. They upgraded us the difference in price from a inside to outside two decks up. If he wouldnt have called we would have had a inside room.
Give the TAs a little credit
