I just booked my first cruise on the Fantasy and was looking for some feedback..goods and bads. My husband and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary in Nov 04 so we decided to take a cruise. I am beyond thrilled but we dont really know what to expect, so any info would be wonderful. Thanks!!

We just sailed on the Fantasy 12/7. We had a wonderful time. We are not big drinkers, but found plenty to do. The room was very nice, an outside on Main deck. Not large, but plenty of room for the two of us. Just plan to have fun, and you will, no matter what ship or ports.

I like the Fantasy and it's a great ship for first timers. The shorter cruises are great for introducing you to the cruise vacation and although you won't find people on these message boards who don't like cruising, there is a population of people who've cruised before who wouldn't do it again. That's why I advise new comers to try one of the 3, or 4, or 5, day cruises first.

Food, service, and entertainment on the Fantasy are really good. You won't be disappointed. The bars, casino, and activities are nice too. However, I'd rather the ship skip Freeport, IMO, it's a dump. Not much to do there but shop and to get there you must take a taxi ride from hell. Also, the ship's T.V. selections are poor. Just a couple of channels and they show the same movie over and over for the whole trip.

If you're scheduled dining in the Jubilee dining room make sure you go find it first thing. It's going to be difficult locating it the first time.

The ship has just emerged from a makeover and it's been updated to include an atrium bar and new furnishings. I hope they took care of some of these other grievances.

I'm also booked on the Fantasy for Jan 4th. I'm sure I'll be writing a review when I get back, but plan on having the time of my life! My recommendations are to visit the message boards often, buy a copy of Frommer's Guide to the Bahamas and read, read, read all you can about cruises! It has been quite the educational experience for me. I just a read a great book for first timers - it's called The Essential Little Cruise Book and had quite a few tips. I've probably learned more on the cruisemates message boards than anywhere else, though. These are the friendliest, most informative folks I've ever encountered.

Have fun looking forward to your cruise - it's been a blast for me!

Hey! I won't be a "rookie" when I get back! Might even have something worthwhile to say to a first-time cruiser!
