Default Internet Manager

Just read a post where there is a mention of an Internet Manager who was rude? Can anyone tell a first time cruiser what an Internet Manager does? If I want to use the messenger to converse with the sitter what will I need to have?

The Internet Manager handles problems with the internet service on board. I suggest you sign up for the cheapest amount of time for example $100 for 250 minutes if you plan on e mailing daily. I just answered e mails from home and wrote back and each session took 10 minutes. The regular cost is .70 per minute billed to your account and there are also other amounts of time you can buy for a discount. I had questions for the internet manager and his eyes never left the computer. He was on AOL talking to his friends or another time he was playing pool or talking to his girlfriend.
Have fun on your cruise

Thank you Helen for the information! We will not purchase this feature, the idea is to get DH away from the PC. If I email it will be a quick one.

Fighterone,
I was on the Spirit '01 and used the internet to email my DD, there was a charge to conect the 1st time, like a set up charge. I could purchase a flat package, but I chose not to. I chose to pay per minute. I think I used it 3 times for our 8 day cruise and it was about $30 including the set up fee. I wasn't about to pay the higher amount. But it was nice to at least check in and let them all know how much fun we were having. Besides it was cheaper to email someone than to call them and about $10 minute!

It is MUCH cheaper to email someone from in port than on the ship! Find an internet cafe on shore and email from there if you must.
