I once hit for $700 on a dollar machine, but that's about how much I was down, on the last night. It was nice to make it all back like that. I was also a finalist in the slot tournament...
Mostly, it goes the wrong way!

We set aside a certain amount of money for each days use in the Casino. Instead of playing what we win we keep it....doing this we either break even or come very close to it.
I won the most money passing a machine one night when we hadn't done well and putting a quarter in....only $80 bucks or so but that was ok by me!
The first night and next day seem to be a good times to play the slots...after that it seems like they change the machines that are paying out - and those machines don't seem to pay out as much.
They say that Vegas isn't built by winners....and their right, its built by people playing slot machines and by people that don't bother figuring out what bets are good bets.
Would you walk up to someone, give them $1 and say pick a number 1 - 800,000...if I guess it, I get $80? That's what you're doing with slots. Its a random number generator which then checks that number to see if its a winner. The signs, lights, and bells all are designed to distract you from the fact that you just gave a computer money to pick a number! And thats why casinos load up with slots....the house advantage is so high its ridiculous.
Try blackjack or craps...unless your too lazy to figure out why all your money disappears into a machine!
On our last cruise, on the Carnival Victory, all the people in our group hit big on the last night.... $900, $500, $400, and then a couple smaller ones here and there. It always seemed to be a slot right next to the bar, or on an end aisle where everyone could see (which is convenient for Carnival because everyone would see them win and go play). Nobody playing in the way back hit at all.
I alloted $20.00 for slots on my Sensation cruise. I sat at a machine and played until it was gone. I left with 50 cents more than when I went in. So I won!
No, I'm not abig gambler. I had just never played slots before. So I tried it.

We won about $80 four times playing video poker. We quit and cashed in each day we won. We spent a total of $40 and made $320. Not sure of the time of day, but it was each on a different day when we won, my husband got 4 aces each time we won.
We were on the Paradise.
