I know the Carnival website says no alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought onboard. (and they have a corking fee,etc) If we wanted to put a few bottles of wine in our suitcase or purchase some liquor at ports (to be consumed while on the cruise), should we expect a problem ? Does anyone have any experience with this ?Thx
You can take wine on board in your carry on bag with no problem. The official policy on bring alochol onboard is that they will take it from you and hold until the last night, but that all depends on the staff at the gang plank, as they have been known on ocasion to let you pass with a small amount, so it all depends on whosei s manning the gangplank and what their mood is at that time.
We took a box of wine and it was in our checked bags. It was nice to have it in our room, to sit on the balcony and have toast to the good life. We also brought a 12 pack of pepsi with us, carried this on, as the ship only had coke. It was a life saver.
My info for our cruise on 2/15 says we are allowed to bring "fine wine and champagne" on board at embarkation. Same goes with corking fee. However, in the past we have brought beer on and nobody said a thing. They do seem to enforce the bringing on of alcohol from the ports though.

Hi;
A lot of poeple have mentioned that you can bring wine in your carry on whn ntring th ship, how much exactly...1 bottle for the first night, or as much as you want?
They kept a 6 pack of Zima at the pier a few years ago while trying to carry it on. We since put it in our checked luggage, no problem. They tried to make us check a couple bottles from St. Maartin till the end of the cruise last month. I sweetly asked the desk guy on the gangway, why, for just a couple bottles, to which he replied, aw, just go ahead. Luck of the draw ;0)
I have always taken wine in the small bottles (4 packs) in my carry -on luggage. No one has ever said a thing. Though they have there restrictions in the brochures, I don't think they really can say anything to you when you are boarding in a U.S. port (it's not much different then going into to your hotel room). I've never tried to take anything on at a non-American port and have noticed people giving over there booze when entering the ship. I like the idea of a box of wine in my checked luggage. It won't leak, and will probably last the week. Thanks for the suggestion!!
