extra card with magnetic strip

I have heard several people say that they take an extra card that has a black strip on it to use in their safe? Can someone explain this to me please?

Thanks!

To open your safe you have to have a card with a magnetic strip. But they advise you not to use your sail and sign card. But you can use any card with a magnetic strip, but you have to use the same one you use to open it to reopen it.

Not all ships use the magnetic strip for the safe. We were on the Fantasy and you program in a code to use for the trip. However I am sure you could just take one of those grocery store cards to use if you don't want to use a credit card.

That's exactly what we did (used the grocery store card.) Didn't want to risk using a credit card or funpass and it worked out just great.

In some states, your driver's licence has such a strip.

We are on the Pride in April. Can anyone tell me what method the Pride uses for the room safes. Thanks...

We used one of the gift cards from Walmart. Find a convenient location in the cabin to hide this card, and it will be available for use quickly. This way the card will be handy to use and you won't have to remember which one was used last.

I use the ship card from the previous cruise. On Enchantment, we used the card from Sensation. On Inspiration, we'll use the Enchantment card. It's a way to keep all cruises connected.

Sensation 2/03 I disembarked, but never really left the ship.
Enchantment 9/03 Just had to go back.
Inspiration 3/04 Just have to go back again, and again, and again...

The Pride does have magnetic strip safes. We used our AAA card to open and close it.

We used the AAA card on the first cruise, Sensation. It was fitting, because we drove to the port. :D

We used our Costco card on the Pride and everyone who hd stuff in the safe knew where it was.
