Default Has Anyone Booked Through Wal-Mart Travel???

This is the 1st time we have booked a cruise through Wal-Mart Travel. Have any of you used them for anything? If so, how did everything work out? We booked a GTY 6-A Ocean view. If you booked a GTY, did you recieve an upgrade? Any TA gifts? Anymore info, will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

We booked through Sams Club travel before. We did not receive anything from TA. They do discount, but most everyone does now. A local TA will give you the best service, and will may match price you receive from Sam's. They are more willing to help you, and answer questions too. There are lots of online discounters that offer unbelievable rates too. When we booked a GTY from them we did not get an upgrade. I hope this helps! :-)

Thanks Misty!
I guess I had higher hopes from a more reputable company. We booked our 1st cruise through Cruiseweb & didn't recieve anything with them either, but we got a really great upgrade(3 or 4 floors) & they were very friendly, but so has Wal-Mart been.
Anymore info on this will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

We have great deals everyday so we don't have to offer you something to get your business. We give you the deals right up front.

CruiseQueen,
Are you a Wal-Mart rep or employee? I'm not trying to put Wal-Mart down, just trying to get info on them. I use Wal-Mart for everything from groceries to clothes, to now a cruise, but they don't in my opinion, always have the best discounts or prices. Do you have any info on their travel/cruise business???
Thanks in advance!
Tracy

Okay - I cruise very often and here is what I've found:

Travel agents have NEVER beat the online brokers (Travelocity, etc.) in any time I've tried to go that route (matched them, yes - but beat them, never).

Unless I'm unaware of a recent change - travel agents have little influence over upgrades anymore. The last cruise I booked was through Travelocity in a 1A - I actually received an upgrade to 6A.

All I miss when I don't use a TA is the nice little gift basket in my cabin upon arrival (so I send myself one through Carnival sometimes anyway - lol)

Now - I'm not knocking TAs, but this is simply my perception - feel free to correct me if I am wrong...

I'm currently booked direct with Carnival, who matched Travelocity's price (which was the same as Expedia's price). I'm currently considering switching to a TA, who has said that she can beat Carnival's price by 10%. On a 7-night cruise in a Cat 11 cabin, that's a decent savings.

When I booked our March cruise back in July 2003 the local TA said he could not even touch the prices I found on bestpricecruises.com.....I also called carnival directly and they said they couldn't beat it either so I booked online. I guess it all depends upon when you are going and how far in advance you book.

I has to disagree about online booking. I just booked my first cruise with a T/A and they got me the cheapest price. I did all the research on it and then they gave me a price which was far less then any prices I had gotten. It may depend on the cruiseline, I don't know.

Umm - no, actually I took your bait and they were more than 15% higher than Travelocity for the dates I wish to travel...

Not only that - but when I want to book a trip, I do not want to have to SUBMIT a web form and wait fir someone to get 'back to me' - I want to do it all online.

My $.02

Buzz, are you saying Wal-Mart was 15% higher??? I booked my cruise about 6 months or so ago & they were the cheapest, except for 1 online company, which I'd never heard of & was scared to try. But, I haven't even checked prices, since then.
my 2 cents worth~Tracy

I booked through Wal-Mart vacations. I can call my agent anytime and she does anything she can to assist me. She even called back right after we booked to ask Carnival a question and I ended up getting another $100.00 off my past guest discount. I got an 8B cabin for the 8A price. I was very happy with the service.
