Default Empress deck?

We are cruising on the Carnival Paradise on Mar 7, 2004 and just received our travel documentation. We booked category 4A (we have 3 young kids) with bunks. We just received our travel documentation and found that we were upgraded to the Empress deck.
On the one hand, I am happy because we will be closer to all public areas, but, on the other hand, I am concerned that our room is underneath the "galley." We don't plan on staying up late at night because the kids will need to go to sleep...will our room be noisy? Will we hear them preparing the midnight buffet?

I had a romm on the empress deck, and never heard a thing (and I am a pretty light sleeper). I think it will be ok.

Thanks for your message!
What was above your room? When I look at the deck plan, you may have been under the theatre area, underneath a dining room, or under the galley (like us).

We were directly underneath the edge of the dining room and the galley on the Fantasy in Room E201(same class ship and deck plan as the Paradise) in January. Didn't hear a single thing and I am an extremely light sleeper.

That is, we didn't hear a single thing from the galley. However, each morning when we docked in port - HOLY COW!!! The thrusters (or whatever they are called) rumbled and roared. I thought an airplane was landing in my room! It was okay, though - I wanted to get up and out seeing the ports anyway and it only lasted a few minutes!! My 13 yo slept right through it...

You'll love being on the Empress and being so close to everything!

We were on the Fantasy in room E190 (4 women) and never heard a peep...of course they could probably hear us! lol.

Don't worry, it'll be fine!
