Question about a Delayed flight booked through Carnival
If you book your flight flight through Carnival and there is a major delay with the plane due to weather will Carnival hold the ship for you. This problem is occuring to my parents right now. Their flight was supposed to get them in at 12:30 for a 4pm cruise on the Legend but it was an hour late taking off and when they arrived in florida they were unable to land in Ft. Lauderdale due to heavy rain and strong winds. The plane had to circle around for a while and they eventually had to land in Ft. Myers to refuel. They are still in Ft. Myers waiting to take off as we speak. Does anyone know of any similar experiences like this and if so how Carnival handled it? Any info would be great. This is a perfect example of why you should not fly down on the same day of your cruise.

Just to follow up, my parents did miss the ship however they called up their carnival cruise line personal vacation planner and she was very helpful. She booked them on the Spirit leaving tomorrow out of miami and she also gave them a $200 on board credit ( which will cover the 2 nights of lodging in florida). Thanks for your feedback.

It happened to us a couple years ago. We couldn't get out of Oklahoma city due to the airport being out of de-icer. we drove to Dallas and Carnival put us on Air Jamacia the next morning. We spent two days at Half Moon Bay Resort in Montego Bay and got on the ship when it arrived. The passengers said we didn't miss anything because it had been so cold and rainy. We had purchased the insurance & saved all our receipts. I sent them in when we got back and received reimbursement for the days we missed and the hotel. It came to around a thousand $$. Not too shabby.

Just curious: DId they have insurance? We booked our air thru Carnival and I was wandering if they did this for them because they had insurance or because the air was booked through Carnival? If you book your air on your own, I believe you are responsible for getting yourself to the next port or even miss the entire cruise and loose the money.
