My wife and I just returned from a 4 day Carnival cruise on the "Holiday" to Cozumel out of New Orleans. Unfortunately for us we both caught a nasty gastro-intestinal bug while on board. I got hit the first day at sea and spent the next three days recovering. My wife got sick the second day out. The infirmary staff were very nice and dispensed medicines and shots that helped ease the nausea, cramps, vomiting, diarrhea etc but still this is not my idea of a fun vacation. The infirmary people seemed very used to this routine so we were obviously not the first but I couldn't say how many other people got infected on this cruise. Maybe it was just our bad luck.
The room was very clean and the steward was a delightful old Chinese man but if I had it to do over again I would not have made this trip. Too many people confined in a small space and too many opportunities to encounter bugs. Even though we were conscientious about washing our hands we still got nailed. Sorry Carnival. We will not be coming back and can not recommend touring on the "Holiday".
If you were feeling sick the first day out.....you didnt catch it on the ship. Even if it was some sort of food poisoning, it takes at least 6 hours for it to start hurting. When i had food poising, i ate at 5 and started feeling really bad at 12. You were sick before you got on board.
