I've been reading all the posts regarding tipping and I'm thoroughly confused as to whom is covered in the automatic tipping that Carnival charges to your Sign and Sail card. Can anyone explain who the auto tipping is supposed to cover and who else I should be tipping that it doesn't?
Only 6 weeks and 4 days to go!!!! Can't wait!!! : )
Auto tipping is charged as $10 per day per person. It covers the wait staff in the dining room and your cabin steward. Any purchase that you make from the bars while on board will have a 15% tip automatically added to the price. Your dining room M'atre'D (I KNOW I mispelled that) isn't covered in the auot tipping and personally I rarely tip them unless they've performed a personal service for us. If you order room service, you should tip them, as a tip is not provided for them elsewhere.
I like to make out a room service order before I go to sleep and hang it outside my door.
When I wake up, I have fresh coffee and a tidbit to get me off and running before I make it to the dining room for breakfast. A tip is in good order for the person bring me my morning coffee to my cabin!
Have a wonderful cruise and I hope you have smooth sailing!!

2009 RCCL Freedom Of The Seas (so nice we did it twice)
2008 RCCL Freedom Of The Seas (!!wow!!)

1993 Celebrity Horizon
1991 Celebrity Meridian
Thanks for clearing that up for me. This will be my first cruise and I certainly don't want to leave anyone out. It sounds like I should just tip extra for anyone that provides extra special service and any other services I might receive like a massage etc.
You have a wonderful time on your upcoming cruise too!
