Default Toddlers N Balconies???

I know I may sound like a freak but I need to know if any one has had a balcony with a small child she will be 3 when we go and how safe is it? I am a very watchful parent and would not let her get on the rail or any thing but how is it out near the rail is there a big gap between the bars or am I better off changing my reservation to an inside??
Please give me any info that you may have on this thank you.....

Shelly - I think you have a very legitimate question - the balcony rail was about 40" high and no bars - plexiglas - and very little gap at the bottom - only a few inches - but with the small size of the balcony the chairs are close to the rail so be very watchful - a toddler can climb so fast. You might even want to take the chairs and table inside. Be very careful of the doors though - they are very heavy and the wind really catches them - could really hurt little fingers. The balcony was absolutely wonderful - especially around two in the morning - so peaceful. Enjoy Jennifer

I am the same way
I have a window cabin but no balcony
Not sure I would feel comfortable taking a shower or falling alseep with a balcony cabin and small childern what if wake up before you and decide to open the door
I non opening window givies me the view and more safety

Don't ever apoligize for being a good parent there should be more of you
some people don't watch their childern enough

I don't think a small child could open the door - so you would not have to worry there - and they have good locks on them as well. I can't imagine a parent allowing a small child to stand on a chair at the rail - they should have their heads read! A balcony is wonderful - but looking over you can actually imagine what would happen if someone fell in - if you are at all worried - don't go for it - your child is the most important thing in the entire world and you don't need the added worries - bad enough when they get their driver's licence lol - ttfn Jennifer.

Our number one rule with our kids last year before we left home was:

NO kids out on the balcony - without a parent.

This was drilled in thier heads all week!
We did eventually let our then 8 yr old out. But not our then 4 yr old!

We have the same rules this year... and they already know it!

You have a good reason to worry. the table and chairs can easily be moved next to the railing. I'd see if I could get one of the family staterooms with the floor to ceiling windows. These cabins are also larger.

Have fun,
