Soda cards entitled you to soda at anytime of the day or night from the bar or from bar service. I do not think room service is included.
Yes there are planned activities for kids from 2 to 18 every night with the older teens usually getting the disco every night between 9 and 10:30 or 11PM.
Unless you are 6'6" and or grossly obese than you will fit in the bunk beds nicely. Carnival has the largest standard cabns of any cruise line with the rooms being 182 sq ft.
Handheld steamers are fine and very useful. Irons are not allowed due to fire hazard.
Kids under 18 can 'play' but they cannot buy the cards and cannot collect the winnings so you better be the one to yell BINGO! <G>
Seafood and soups. Best soups anywhere!
Desserts are many and varied and there is always something there that you will love.
Some of the chocolete stuff is VERY rich and some foods can be very spicey but they are noted.
Bring an extention cord or power strip. Very handy. The most important thing may very well be sunscreen not only for your body but for your face as well. The sun in the Caribbean is very hot and even those of us who live in Florida can and sometimes do get burned.
Yes pizza and ice cream free 24hours a day. You will have so much fun! I regret trying the baked alaska. I always wanted to try it, but I was so full after lobster I went to my room and forgot all about the dessert. Gezz... Next time I will wait!
My daughter 14.5 was just on the Elation with us. There is an 12 to 15 year old group. She enjoyed the ice breaker the first day and some of the games, but didn't really join in the activities after that. She read in her bathing suit, or joined in the adult stuff, like the game shows, bingo and behind the scene tours. They do have free time up in camp carnival for the 12 to 15 year olds for psII and computer games. And, a teen disco every night until 11:00. They are extra but all fancy drinks could be made non-alcoholic
I ran and bought our 2 girls a soda card the minute we got on board. It was worth every penny. We started using it at lunch before the ship even sailed! In the dining room, after a rough start the "drink lady" would have 2 sodas for my older daughter and 1 for my younger daughter, waiting for us every night when we set down. It's good all over the ship and in the restaurants, just not for room service. You get soda in a glass or a shirley temple. One glass at a time, but you can go right back for more.
Fast food--the 24-hour pizza and ice cream were awesome. Other favorites: The Crepes on the Midnight buffet, lobster, prime rib and rack of lamb in the dining room and sushi on the promenade deck (don't know if they have sushi on the paradise).
Strange items I always used: highlighter pen, power strip, clothes pins, behind the door shoe holder, bug spray for Belize, sticky notes, zip locs, cooler to use as mini fridge. Also brought underwater cameras, suncreen, lots of toiletries, camera, video, books, etc. etc. And, way too many clothes!
I forgot film and it was $8.95 a roll on board. Also, could have used the sweater I forgot. Only had one jacket that I had to make go with everything, as it is chilly on the ship!
Been on Carnival twice (Fascination and Paradise)!!
The bunk beds are the size of a twin bed and should be comfortable.
Soda Cards are good for sodas all over the ship including room service.
I have brought an iron on every cruise, so a clothing steamer should be okay.
Just remember to unplug it before leaving your cabin.
Favorite foods: Roasted pumpkin soup (sounds wierd, but soooo good), beef wellington,
shrimp, lobster, prime rib, salmon. Don't turn down something because the name is
All most all the desserts will melt in your mouth. Don't miss at least one grand midnight
Carnival Pizza is sooo good, the best I have ever eaten.
Paradise is a beautiful ship. Have a wonderful trip.
Pizza and frozen yogurt - not "free". You paid for it when you paid for your cruise. It's "included", and I swear...I don't know if I'm ever allowed in the Pizzeria again, as it seemed like I was there all day! Yum!

I wanted to add something to the questions about the foods.
All the food is all you can eat. In the dining room you can order the wierd named stuff to try it and you can order the steak that will fill you up. Don't be shy. After a couple of days our entire table was ordering 2 dinners to try the different entrees.
This rule also applies to dessert. Remember, everything tastes better with a scoop of ice cream. So, you can order cheese cake or chocolate torte and a scoop of vanilla to go with it.
