Sailing on Sensation in May. Any suggestions about car rentals?

Re: Grand Cayman Car Rental??
Don't know much about car rentals, but we rented scooters there. Unfortunately my husband lost control of it, fell off, broke his collar bone, so I wouldn't recommend doing that. We are now in a dispute with this company over a $600 charge to our account and have still not received anything as to what this was for. Only damage to the one scooter was a mirror broke off, certainly not a cost of $600?? So, just beware.

Do you have any ideas as to where in GC you want to go? May just be easier to get a cab?? I'd also recommend doing the Sting Ray City snorkeling excursion, unless you've already done that, I'm just sorry we did'nt do that again.

Re: Grand Cayman Car Rental??

click on Shore Excursions..........
then scroll down until you get to West Bay Driving Tour or East End Driving Tour
click on either one of those..............
Info is on the right side of screen.........

We selected the All Inclusive Rate.......

Click on one of the links (All Inclusive or Net Rate)
this will give you a selection of vehicles
We rented a Jeep Liberty (me & my wife + my inlaws)

click on the "click here for online reservations" link.

You do NOT have to give a Credit card number.
You will get a email confirmation #.

When you get in port, go to the Blue Iguana (exit the pier, make a right, down about 2 blocks on the left) call AVIS from there. They will send a ride for you.

This was an easy process. No catches. I put 9 a.m. for a pick-up but we didn't get to the pier until about 1030.... no problems. Just called.....
Any me....

Re: Re: Grand Cayman Car Rental??

I am a travel agent/cruise specialist and when my clients ask these questions, I usually check with the tourism and visitor's bureau in their destination. Most of the ports throughout the Caribbean have really good websites and are easy to find on a search engine. The bureau usually has the latest, most reliable information on approved companies for island tours, using taxis. But, be very sure to get back to the ship in plenty of time before the ship leaves - they make an announcement on the ships, so listen for the message and maybe even ask the security personnel as you disembark for the port.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

Think taxi, readily available and cheep!!! Driving on those islands is not always a good plan
