Default How do I debark without putting my bags out the night before

Hi all,

How do I debark quickly from the Inspiration in Tampa? Heard that we may be able to keep ours bags when they are usually picked up the night before. Just carry your bags and go thru customs. Could it be that simple?

Hope someone can shed some light on this!!

Thanks for your help.

Doggie

You can keep your bags in your room and just go throught early dembarkation at 7:30 the morning you get off the ship...but, if you have tons of bags and such...i would say its not such a good idea...yes it is that simple, keep your bags, fill out your customs form and go

i did this method when i just went on my cruise 2 weeks ago...it was pretty fast and easy....

....also, you don't have to get off at early disembarkation in order to carry your own stuff off. we carried our own luggage off at the regualr time (about 11am) and had no problem and were surrounded by folks doing the same thing.

as Tenly said, if you have a lot of stuff, or stuff that is not easily pushed/pulled around, this is a horrible idea! in finding the way to disembark, we got off on the wrong floor and had to walk up a flight of stairs to correct the wrong. it was do-able, but tough with the stuff we had. they block off many areas on disembarkation day so navigation is compromised slightly. that's what led us to go the wrong way. we thought we could go the way we knew, but couldn't.

but we did feel better doing that then trying to find all of it in that huge luggage storeroom area!! it took us 45 min last time and we swore we wouldn't do it again as we saw many many people carry thier own stuff off!

Just be ware that Customs will ramdomly pickout some of these self debarkers to check and review and that the check will be quite extensive(searching all luggage and body search), otherwise it seems to work quite nicely.

That's exactly it.

Cruised the GLORY last November. Put a small bag on my rollaway suitcase and just left the ship the first time a COLOR was called as instructed.

Literally, walked right through customs. They asked me if I was an American. I said yes, and didn't even stop.

Amazing ! !

I'm definitely going to give this a whirl on the Pride in a couple of weeks. Do you need special color tags on your luggage so that you're allowed to leave the ship early with luggage in tow?

Is this magnificant early debarkation available only to full fledged US citizens, or can anyone debark once the customs forms are in order?

Didn't know if there was a citizenship restriction on this...

Jennifer: The early debarkation starts at 7:30am and only US citizens that can carry thier own luggage off the vessel can use this. Regular debarkation begins at 9:45am and this is where anyone can get off (color by color) with or without their own luggage.

We did the regular debark. with our luggage in tow and had a nice relaxing morning drinking coffee and planning our next cruise up on the Lido until about 11am as our color wasn't called until next to last! (No complaints here!!! We didn't want to leave and our flight didn't take off untill 3:30pm!!)

Waters

ps. I don't know that these times are the same for each ship. This is what they were on the Triumph 2 weeks ago when we were there (all tan and warm I might add).

Thanks Waters.

I'm not too worried - our flight from MIA doesn't leave until 1:30, so as long as we're off the ship by 11 so we can be at the airport at 11:30, that's cool with me :o)

I ask because my husband is a Permanent Resident (not a citizen) but that's alright, there's really no rush. Just nice to know all the info!

Thanks again.

Hello,

Absolutely, go for it! I am a travel agent/cruise specialist and am seeing more and more people with their luggage as they get off the ship. You might need to put your luggage at the side of the table at breakfast on the morning of debarkation, but the dining rooms aren't usually very crowded. Of course, you could always be searched by customs at the port, but we live with that possibility in airports - it is always possible, but random searches are part of the new, post-September 11 reality. I think that everyone is ready for that possibility for the most part?

Having your luggage would save time because you won't need to search the luggage holding area for your suitcase(s) after getting off the ship. The cruise lines do their best to streamline the process, but it always seems like my luggage is in the farthest corner.

Frankly, I don't see why not?!

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

Best Regards,
Julia

So there is no special color tag that one needs to have when leaving the ship with luggage in tow?
