Default Passports

I was wondering if anyone has applied for passports recently, we applied two weeks ago and was told it would take 6 weeks. We will have about 5 weeks to spare.

Back when I did mine about a year ago, I was told it's one part of the government that promises late but arrives early. I don't know if that's true now or for everybody but I did receive mine in one, two, or three weeks (can't remember). Hopefully it does come before your cruise but if not you should have other options.

We applied for our passports recently - and received them THIS week. Only took 3 weeks - which we thought was GREAT !! They had told us originally - 5 to 6 weeks.

This time of year is at the beginning of the heaviest travel season, so if you apply for a Passport, it could take up to the 4-6 weeks they tell you. More people apply for Passports in March-April for summer travel in June-July-Aug than at any time of the year. Passport applications done in the fall and winter usually are received faster. Just a Heads Up....

We applied in mid December and had them back by New Years. It was a complete surprise. Boston was the issuing office. Maybe that had something to do withe the fast turn-a-round.
