My mom has sailed with Princess before and she told me that they had to pay extra if they ate in the diningroom....does this sound right? She could have lost her mind for all I know. She said they always ate at the buffet and there wasnt any extra charges for that. I dont mind eatting at the buffet, I just dont want to be charged for extras. Any input??? Thanks
If you are sailing on Carnival the only extra food wise is the specialty coffee/dessert bar and the reservations onlt supper club (on ships that have them). Everything else is inculded in the price of your cruise (diningroom, buffet, deli, asian, grill, 24 hr pizzeria and soft serve ice cream).
If you want pop then you ahve to buy a card for it....
Orange juice, coffee, hot chocalate, iced tea, hot tea...are all FREE....
Loved the Hot Chocalate on the Conquest...
The mixed drinks are extra, this is where Carnival makes $$$$$$...
Also pictures will cost you extra if you choose to purchase....
The 24/7 Pizza Bar was great & they will make your own personal pizza but you of course have to wait for it....

All of our food came with our package (dining room included). I had heard before we cruised that the only free beverages were coffee and tea. The beverages that were included for us, were coffee, tea, fruit punch, lemonaid, apple juice, iced tea and all the milk you could drink! Imagination March of 2004.
Free isn't "free." Anything that is "included " in terms of food and beverages were pre-paid by you when you paid for your cruise. So - instead of saying "free" (meaning that Carnival gave it to you for nothing, which they didn't ), think "included" (which means you pre-paid for it).
About 1.50 for a soft drink, 4.00 for a short mixed drink, and 6.00 for a tall iced drink, which could include margaritas and daquris. Beer on tap is about 2.00 - and it's usually Bud or Bud Lite. Beer in cans can be from 2.50 upwards, depending on if it's local or imported (Guiness, Foster's), and the size of the can or bottle. There's always a "drink of the day" for about 3.75. Bring $$ or BYO. Or bring both!!
Diverdiver... how do you bring your own? I've read that you can bring on wine.. but that you can't bring on liquor. There are so many mixed responses on the boards! ! I read on the Carnival site that the cruise line will take any liquor that you have bought while on shore.. and hold it until you get off the boat to go home. I also read that about buying it in thier own ship store!
Is it best to just pay the drink prices and not bother with bringing your own?? It sounds like a big hassle to me... though I hate to have to pay up to 6.00 per drink!! Eeeek!
If you go the Carnival website you can get drink prices. Mixed drinks are NOT all $6 - most are in the $2.95-$4.95 range - just like in your favorite bar back home.

You're not supposed to "smuggle" liquor on board. Bringing it in the original container could get it confiscated. Some people - not me, of course - have been known to disguise it in plastic bottles, plastic drink cups, etc.
