Is it best to book a cruise a year in advance
or is it better to wait for price drops closer
We want to take a 7 day departing Miami
on March 27, 2005. Carnival ship, anywhere
I would think booking far in advance would have advantages.
1- the price may go down but it can't go up. If it goes down, it will either be cheaper for you or you will get upgraded.
2- Early booking for a guaranteed cabin would increase your chances of upgrades.
Last minute bookings may bring in a great deal, if you can afford the flexibility. You may find that your desired sailing is not available or strong demand may keep the ships full and the prices high.
Either book right when the prices come out (more then a year in advance?) ; 6-8 months before the cruise (sales!) ; or last minute if you live right by a port and dont have to worry about airfare!
