When we pay in full - is that the time we find out if we got upgraded? We booked a guaranteed 6A, and are going on our honeymoon, first cruise ever. We're hoping for a good upgrade, but will be happy just to be on board!
I paid in full for our cruise at the time of booking....... January
Called travel agent yesterday after reading all these posts about upgrades and it seemed like she thought i was speaking Latin to her or something.
she had no clue what I was asking but said she was going to put me on hold and call Carnival while i waited.When she came back on the line she told me that Carnival told her they "never" upgrade anyone early and that they would let us know where our cabin was when we board. i told her about what I had read on here as well as some other boards and she swore to me that she had never heard of such a thing and to have a good time on the cruise regardless of where our cabin was.
hey john webooked in jan.also we put a deposit down first and we had an obstructed balcony.i went yesterday to make the final payment to my T.A.and asked if there were any promo's or sales?GOING ON.he said i haven't heard of any but i will call carnival and ask.Iwas sitting there and he called he told them we are first time cruisers which we are and carnival told him we could get a guarentee bal.instead of an obstructed bal.plus.50 off per person.isaid o.k. the only thig is i dont'have a room # because of the guarentee bal.which is o.k. with me it has to be better than an obstructed bal.view
Did you book a specific cabin or a guarantee? If you booked a specific cabin, your chances are not as good for an upgrade. If you booked a guarantee, you will find out when you board whether or not you have been upgraded.

hey Dorothy first we booked a obstructed view with a room # when i made the final payment iasked about any promo's or sales. was told icould get 50 per person and abalcony guarentee.we may find out our room # 2 to 4 weeks before the cruise or at the pier.that is o.k. with us because aguarentee balcony has to be better than a obstructed view
I booked a guarantee balcony and did some checking online yesterday and the total price for the 4 of us is now about $800.00 less than it was when I booked in January.
And they still tell me there is nothing they can do or tell me about an upgrade until we get to the pier in 2 weeks.
