Default Things to do in Port Canavral

First time cruiser, W. Carribean on the Glory 5/8/04. We are getting to Port Canavral 1 day prior. We have a 3 year old. Wondering what there is to do, in the few hours we have to spare. Any suggestions?

Thanks

There are tours of Kennedy Space Center, air boat rides, and Daytona Beach is just about an hour north. I'd just prepare myself for a GREAT time. We just off the Glory western route and they had to drag us off by the ears.

Bananananafofina--I remember the Shirelles--your visit to that area is not complete without a trip to Kennedy Space Center. You can see a lot of it just driving by. You can also drive through the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Lots of big, beautiful birds, but don't get out of the car except in designated areas. The alligators are for looking at, not for petting :-D

And as the previous post says, Daytona Beach is close. You can drive on 2 segments of the beach, beginning near Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. That segment goes north for 10 miles, or so before you're routed out to the street. Roll the windows down and enjoy!

CAPE CANAVRAL ISN'T THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH BUT EVERYWHERE AROUND IT IS. I LIVE IN MELBOURNE WHICH IS ABOUT 30 MINUTES SOUTH AND I LOVE LIVING HERE. YOU'RE SO CLOSE TO EVERYTHING.
SINCE YOU WILL HAVE A SHORT STOP HERE, I WOULD SUGGEST GOING TO RON JOHN'S SURF SHOP. EVERYONE WHO GOES THROUGH THE COCOA BEACH AREA ( JUST SOUTH OF CAPE C.) HAS TO STOP BY.
I ALSO THINK ITS A MUST TO HIT THE SPACE CENTER, BUT I DON'T THINK THE 3 YR OLD IS GOING TO BE VERY IMPRESSED. SINCE YOU ONLY HAVE A LITTLE TIME GO FOR WHAT YOU WILL REGRET NOT SEEING, AND REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS VISIT PLACES YOU MISSED WHEN YOU GET BACK FROM YOUR CRUISE. HAVE A BLAST ON YOUR CRUISE
