Balcony - lock?

Never have had a balcony before this upcoming cruise. Does the door lock? How? If we don't bungee it while we're out there will it close and lock? Does one always lock the balcony door when leaving the cabin? Is it same degree of security as door from hallway?

While the lock itself is not all that great it is good enough to deter honest people and there is also a steel bar that drops in place that makes it very secure. The door does not automatically lock but you must do so manually.
