Default Are pools open while at port?

My husband and I have been on one cruise, but I can't remember if the swimming pools on the ship are open while we are in port. Does anyone know?

Im 99% sure they are closed while at port. It seems like sometimes they are open though. Anyone else?

I believe pools are open most days in port. Occasionally they will be drained though.

That's good to know that they drain them daily..... or did I not read that correctly?! Also.. it seems I came upon a post last week, i think, that someone mentioned the pools being salt water? Where do they get the water to refill the pools?
Thanks !

pools are salt water. They are drained and cleaned at night and I believe they take seawater then chlorinate and treat it. They are open in port except I believe the homeport......correct me if i'm wrong.

The Conquest pools were not open upon leaving the first port. But were open while we were in all three ports of call. I personally believe that the pools are salt water because they are filled with the tears of people leaving the ships for home!!! They store these tears in tanks upon debarkation. this is an effort to save our planets resourses.

The pools are filled with "filtered" salt water. It's just as salty as if you jump right off the ship. I think filtered part means it's just clean from dirt/debris. I toured the Conquest in March. The pool was open while we were on tour, and there was a little girl standing at the bar next to her father already in her swimsuit, already soaked!

The pool on the Triumph was open as soon as we got on the ship and that was roughly 12:00.

I don't remember ever seeing the pool opened in port. Probably because the water in most major ports is a bit polluted.

It is nice to returen from an excursion and take a quick dip in one of the pools. Also, if you want to layout, but the pool is not open, I suggest that you grab a chair near one of the fresh water showers. This way you can cool off when ever you want.

They wouldn't close the pools while in port as many people opt to stay aboard for that reason. This only applies to visited ports and not home ports.
