I went on a cruise with my (then) boyfriend and several other friends. It was the first of many cruises we would take over the years. We went to the Captains Cocktail party and began whooping it up. When the party was over and everyone started to depart for dinner, a girl in our group said "lets go get pictures up on stage". We all went down there and I was first up on stage. I turned around expecting my group to be following me and all I saw was my boyfriend down on one knee. It didn't even click what was going on (even though we had had several serious conversations about engagement) and so I said "What are you doing, get up here". It was then he asked me to marry him (and committed himself to a lifetime of my pushy behaviour!!). It was the greatist moment.Of course I said yes. All my friends were in on it and many tears were shared that night. My friends caught it all on film. It was great that we were dressed so formally. It was on the Carnival Fantasy....what an appropriate name.

AW!!!!!!!!! I keep hoping my boyfriend will take advantage of the atmosphere and ask me when we go on ours, but it is HIGHLY doubtful! He is a huge procrastinator, so if I want to get engaged, then I will probably have to ask him!

trust me FLAWEDANGEL, there was a lot of upfront talking (mostly on my part) and conjoling, okay others might refer to it as threatening and issuing ultimatums...but who is keeping track!!

I think marriage scares men.......I once heard a very wise person say that, regarding relationships, men most fear being trapped and women most fear being detached, or losing/severing a relationship. I guess you have to find a medium in between. (okay, that is enough from this Dr. Phil, Jr.)

I wish you luck. Cruises are very romantic, something about the salt air and the gentle sway of the ship, and the stars. Don't miss the opportunity for a little "turtle-doving" in the moonlight, on deck.

Yep, you are totally right! I imagine one day I will have to lay down the law....but we have only been together about two years, so I am not quite ready to do that yet! But I am sure that if I ever want to get married, I will have to do a little (alot?) of pushing!!!

:O)

My funny moment was in 1991 on my first trip on the Celebration. Myself and 2 friends, just having a wonderful time. Who knows what made Carnival decide to place 3 middle aged ladies at dinner with 5 recent college grads. 2 girls from Seattle and 3 boys from Boston. The first night at dinner here we were feeling a bit uncomfortable with our young table partners. I am sure they were uneasy with us too. My iced tea arrived and I was squeezing lemon into the glass. I squeezed and my finger slipped, that lemon wedge just took off and sailed across the table. It went plop right in to the middle of the soup that one of the young ladies was eating. I was so embarrassed. I apologised and was sitting there feeling foolish. She started to laugh and soon we were all laughing. that was the ice breaker. the rest of the cruise was great and we had a lot of fun.

On the Jubilee doing the Hawaii Vancover route there were only about 5 couples in their 30-50 range. So on the Carnival Caper game they wanted to pick people that were able to run up on stage. My hubby was picked for one team, me another and some of the other people from the other "younger" couples on board. We had to yell and carry on to be asked to be captain on a team so one guy got up on the table in the lounge (little table) and mooned the audience. He got the captain title! When we had to dress a man like a lady in the end I learned that they tell the men what to say their profession is so they told him when he got up there on stage to say he was a Babtist minister! And he did! So all the rest of the cruise little older ladies were asking him where his church was! A mooning Baptist minister!! hahahahaha Debbie

My boyfriend and I sailed on the Glory this past February on the Western Caribbean route. The one thing we really wanted to do was snorkel. I had heard that Belize has some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. We booked snorkeling excursions both in Belize and Cozumel. When we arrived in Belize, we were told that all water related excursions were cancelled due to rough seas. I was quite bummed out. The next day in Cozumel the same thing happened. We were both so bummed out, but still made the best of the shopping in Cozumel. On the last night of the cruise, my boyfriend and I were walking around on one of the upper decks. It was a beautiful moonlight, quiet night. Suddenly, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. It was the most romantic setting. It turns out that he bought the ring in Cozumel with the money he had saved on the cancelled snorkeling excursions. He must have bought the ring while I was shopping in another store. It truly made my cruise experience a very memorable one.

Great stories =)

I just got off the Inspiration in Tampa and have to say it was by far the worst cruise I have ever had. So much so I am considering canceling cruise I have already paid for on Carnival Destiny sailing out of San Juan going to Aruba.

To long to write story but lets just say the worst wasnt when I "escorted" the room steward out of the room.

Just wanted to say that carnival starts construction in 2 months in belize on a 66 million dollar pier to go out to ship.

My DH has to receive a shot to counter a nasty case of hives he had. When we went to the desk to find out how much our total was, the nurse said "I won't charge you for the benadryl"

Finding this very nice, I said "Thank you! What is the total?"

"Six ten", replied the nurse.

Our jaws dropped to the floor. "Come again?"

"Six ten." She repeated, wondering why we had these shocked looks on our faces.

"How could a shot and some prescriptions be that much?"

The nurse laughed when she realized what was going on. We were thinking that our total fee was $610. She was saying that the total for the Benadryl, for which we were not being charged, was $6.10. I have never been so relieved in my life!

BTW - the total was only $87, not $610 :o)

One of my most memorable moments was on the Ecstasy in '93. We were cruising with family & friends. My sister & I enjoyed the tops optional deck & the dh's weren't allowed up there while we were tanning - without.
One morning we had facials & you had to have your face covered afterwards while in the sun, for a while. So there we lay, topless, faces covered & on our backs. I hear a voice, "No, there not here!" Then footsteps passing by. I uncover my face & look to see my husband parading the men past us. He didn't recognize my new swimsuit.
Made for an embarrasing dinner table that night.
