Hand woven baskets. Happy cruising!!!

Straw Market downtown. Just walk along the shore and it spits you out right beside the place. Never had any problems doing this in the dozen or so times we have been there.

Yes it's outside shopping. A bunch of locals selling tee shirts, straw baskets, straw hats, wood carvings, souvenirs, etc.. Just be sure to bargain with them. Never pay what they are asking. Bring $1. bills with you. You could walk further up and I believe it's called the Taj Mahal. They have air conditioned jewelry stores, perfume shops, etc.
Happy Cruising......what ports will you be doing?

But the Taj Mahal store are now owned by Indians now and you will not get any bargains there. I have seen the prices there more than double in many instances in the last few years. The Straw Market is across the street and is owned and operated by locals who while somewhat aggressive, are great fun to interact with and shop there. Just remember to show respect but still you are expected to bargain.
