Is the afternoon tea served everyday on the Paradise or is it offered just once or twice on the cruise? What is served with the tea? Is this offering included in our cruise price or extra?
Also, the specialty coffee and dessert bar...I understand this is extra. Are the desserts that much more upscale than what is offered in the dining room? Any examples you can share? Approximate costs of the desserts here?
Don't know about the Paradise, but on the Pride the desserts at the espresso bar were really fancy and looked wonderful. We didn't actually imbibe, but the prices were not out of line. They were different items than they served in the dining room or buffets.

i cant remember exactly what time it was on the carnival spirit, but tea was a nice afternoon break. they served many kinds of tea, small tea cakes and sandwiches and a few desserts as well. men as well as woman attended and it was alot of fun. you dont have to dress for the occasion and it was included in the price. i plan to attend the tea again on my next trip.
Paradise has tea served in the piano bar at 4pm. When we sailed it was everyday, but that
was 10/02. Your choice of tea is served with all types of little cakes. The bar is
quiet, service wonderful, music soft and relaxing. Please go, I'm sure you will find it
lovely.
Happy Sailing................
This whole thread could've knocked me over with a feather....I've been on 4 Carnival cruises, and I don't ever remember there being a "tea"!!!
As an anglophile, who would definitely partake of this sort of event, I'm going to be checking the Carnival Capers on our August cruise.
From the posts here, it appears that small cakes and sandwiches are served....I don't suppose there's any chance of scones with devonshire clotted cream????
I have never made it to a tea and assumed you had to dress as you do on NCL. Now I may just go. I love little cakes.
As for the specialty coffee bar. The prices are better than Starbucks and they have the best desserts. I feel Carnival's desserts are lacking but do enjoy the ones bought here. Plus the choc. covered strawberries.
To answer your question about it being crowded.... No not really. One day there was about
4 couples and another time about double that. Not too many people really know about
the tea time or can make it from 4-5pm.
Happy Sailing...........
My last years Capers from the Conquest list.......
3:30 pm Classical music & TEA time Alfred's Bar, Deck 4
Never attended but will try it next time....

I had heard all about this tea time and wanted to experience it. I made sure and stopped what I was doing just to attend.
BUT for some reason that day, it was forgotten about. There was a number of us down in the room waiting, but nobody EVER came. We even tryed to call and it were just sent from one person to another.
This was last year on the Victory.
How did I manage to miss tea time on 2 previous Carnival cruises? Better check the Capers on the Paradise in June so I don't miss it again! As for those scones and clotted cream - I'll have to let you know! I'm hoping for the cream puff swans I had a few years ago on HAL - they were out of this world!
Can't answer your question about Paradise, but we just returned from the Imagination where Tea was a daily event 3pm in Mirage Bar, no charge. It is listed in your daily
'Capers' under Bar-Food service.
We have been on several cruise lines and never attended tea, as it was mid day and dress code (no shorts) However, this time we were delighted to learn it was informal dress. Definitely a nice break from the hustle bustle of the ship, to sit and listen to the pianist (who took requests) play soft music.
Quite a selection of teas were offered, fancy salmon or cucumber sandwiches, and an asst. of tea cookies incl. scones. It was very enjoyable, a nice change of pace that only
a hand full attended. Enjoy :-)
