My boyfriend and I are scheduled on the Triumph leaving on Sept. 25. We have a balcony guarantee, which having a balcony will be the first time for either of us. What I want to know is, is it better to have the balcony guarantee and see what happens, as far as an upgrade or is it worth the money to get a suite?
That depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. There's quite a large difference in price between a balcony and a suite but then again for a cruise in September the prices may drop down quite low. If you booked a balcony guarantee at the lowest price please don't get your hopes up that you'd be upgraded to a suite. It happens but very very rarely, those that paid more than you would get bumped up first.
Skipper's Club check-in
Standard cabin size of 185 sq. ft
no dressing area
shower only, no tub
no preferred check-in
If you've never done a balcony cabin I'd suggest going with that first and then next time go up to a suite. When you're on your cruise ask someone in the suite if you can have a peek at it.
I am going on the Destiny on June 6, 2004 and I booked a balcony guarantee and I've already been notified by my travel agent that I've been upgraded to the Verandah deck, so I'm excited. If I get upgraded again, I'll be doing flips in the hallway. From my understanding with guarantee rooms, they can never give you anything lower then what you paid for. So at absolute worse case scenario you will get a balcony room. At the best case you could get a balcony suite, but as the previous post said....that is VERY VERY VERY RARE!!!!
