Parking at Port of New Orleans

When you park at the Port of New Orleans does anyone know if it is cash only. Do you pay in advance or when you leave?

Thanks

Michele

$12 per day...so on a 5 day cruise, it would be $72 because we leave on Saturday and return on Thursday, which is technically 6 days? Do they charge you for the 6th day? Or not, because we deembark so early? Sorry if that is a stupid question, but I am going to be on a very strict budget, and I am trying to make sure of how much I need!!

No it's only 5 days that you will be charged for. $60 for a 5 day cruise

I parked about a block away from Terminal 2 and it was $60.00 cash for a 5 day cruise.
In fact - it was very easy and convenient. Parked right in front. No traffic jams or difficulty getting to or from. Good luck. Toni

Thanks yall!! I really hate having to pay so much for parking, but I know that is the norm in New Orleans!

(stayed at an apartment in the french quarter for two days, and parking was $40!!)

If you park at the Fulton Street Garage (they provide free shuttles to the pier) you can pay by credit card.

Re: Parking at Port of New Orleans

We parked at the Fulton garage, and it was about 3-4 blocks away. When we got off the ship, with all the people and cars, rather than take the shuttle, we actually walked w/our luggage back to the garage. It was 1 block over, turn left, and 3 blocks ahead. I just didn't want to wait for the shuttle. We then walked over to downtown, Bourbon street, then hit Harrah's before we left. We left the parking garage at 2:30PM, and the cost (we did the 5 day Holiday) was $60.00. Watch out they don't charge you $84.00 for the 7 day cruise. Hope this helps.

What Hotel did you stay at Flawed angel???

Re: Parking at Port of New Orleans

It wasn't a hotel...it was a little apartment about a block from the french market....my best friend's fiance has a family friend who owns it, and she lets him use it whenever he wants....so we parked at Jackson Brewery...and it was $20 per day with a max of $40...which we stayed two days, so it was $40!

(if you have ever seen the movie Jury Duty....in the beginning when John Cusack comes out of his apartment right before he gets his jury summons....and there is a man cleaning out the fountain....that is where we stayed! it was awesome, full of New Orleans charm!)

Get there early if you want to park at the port; we got there about noon for a 4:00 departure and there were maybe 20 spots left in the second lot, the first lot was already full. PS I made the mistake of going down a day early to make sure we could find it, and we saw the Conquest, so naturally I was underwhelmed when I saw our ship, the Holiday, the next day:)

Over the bridge & back

Just a note on traffic...
When leaving the port go ahead & go over the bridge (South), do a U-turn & come back North to I-10..... You miss a lot of traffic that way..... My daughter told me about it...
