I guess I'm not sure what to do about Sail and Sign card. We are taking 3 adult children who are taking their own spending money. They don't want to use their debit or credit cards. When do you sign up for your sail and sign card - at embarkation? Who takes the money and when??? What is the least amount of cash you can put on a sail and sign card.
Well when we cruised we (Myself n hubby) PUT $700.00 on our sail n sign card . But we had to do that at the information counter after we boarded. We just let them know that we wanted to do cash instead of credit .Im not sure how it would work for 3 dif accounts though but yes you can use cash.. Have a great cruise

Here are a couple of other options:
You could secure their sail and sign with your credit card, and have the kids settle with you however you choose.
They could use their debit or credit cards to activate, but pay the account off in cash near the end of the week. It's my understanding your credit card isn't actually charged until the last day.
Jamie, Your sail and sign is linked to your credit/debit card. If you pay it off with cash the last night of the cruise and have no charges after midnight, then they will not charge your credit/debit card.

use your credit card to "secure" your purchases on the ship. then, on the last night, go to pursers office and pay it off in cash or travellers cheques or whatever, then there's nothing to go onto your credit card. be warned though that the lineup on that last night is long. if you do nothing, it just shows up on your credit card.
2 to 4 days: $100
5 to 8 days: $200
9 days or longer: $350
However, I think either rates have gone up since the printing of their last brochure (I tend to keep a current one, though). The deposit for the Glory is $250 for a 7 day.

I think they should put their own money on account if they don't want to use their own charge card or debit card. They are adults and should take responsibility. You shouldn't get left holding the bag if they buy too much in the shops or have a few too many foo foo drinks then they can afford.
Standing in line on the last day settling their account won't kill them.
You will each have your own sail and sign card, they will be set up seperate if thats what you need. Have them put the minimum, then they can add to it if needed. At the end if they owe you money they mail you a check. So better if using cash to put up the $200 and add to if needed. Good Luck.
They will put a hold on your credit card for the amount you want to put down, but will not charge your card until the last night. Your children could always put down cash if they don't want to use a debit or credit card.
I called Carnival yesterday and for my 4 day cruise on the Fantasy they told me you had to secure $200 each person on your credit card or leave a $100 deposit. They also said I didn't have to activate my 3 children's cards. They are minor's however, so I don't know how that would work for adult children.
