The Carnival Ecstacy was my first cruise and it was wonderful. The food and entertainment was great. The only thing that I would change is the lenght of the cruise. It just wasn't long enough. You will have a great time! Just to be fair I should mention that my cruise on the Ecstacy was back in 1998 hopefully it is still a great ship.
Carnival Ecstasy was my first cruise in 2001. I still have nothing to compare it too, but we had a wonderful time. I felt that the ship was in pretty good condition with the usual wear and tare. It is decorated with bright colors, almost like being in Vegas. Food was good, people were friendly and have been hooked ever since. We have our second cruise scheduled for this September on the Ecstasy, which will be her last week long cruise out of LA. Please post a full review when you get back and let me know how you enjoyed your cruise.
We sailed the Ecstasy a month ago, April '04. It was our first cruise (so we had nothing to compare it to), and it was hot and cold. We found the food to be mediocre but plentiful. The service was friendly. The ship was run-down, and yes, Bright Colors, like Christina said. We had some plumbing problems in our room (waste water backing up into the shower) that wasn't fixed, although they tried. We throughly enjoyed the casino. So, it was a mixed bag.
