Ok...so we are gonna pack some liquor in our checked bags before we fly. I've heard from someone that b/c of the air pressure in the belly of the plane, these bottles may burst in suitcases. Anyone have any opinion / experiences on that? I wouldn't think it would be a problem, but don't know.
Also, what about beer / coke cans -- are cans more susceptible to this pressure problem than bottles?
I packed my hairspray in my checked luggage and the pressure made the lid pop off and the spray all released. Luckily I had packed it in a plastic bag so it didn't get on anything. I also saw a post where a woman had red wine all over her suitcase and clothing due to breakage in someone else's bag. Hope this helps.
This can be very dependant on the plane. Certain larger planes tend to pressurize the cargo hold more than smaller planes. Also if there are any animals in the cargo hold they have to keep the pressure up or they will die/freeze.
I would recommend putting the bottle inside one (or two) large ziplock bags for security.
my advice to you is bring your bubble wrap in your suit case then buy your booze when you arive then pack in away if not that put your burbon in a listorine bottle ans your vodka in a water bottle and put them in your carry on bag should be no problem then.
Well we took a bottle of Capt Morgans ,A lg bottle of sky vodka, and a bottle of goldschalger with us on the plane going and wrapped it in bubble wrap all was fine nothing broke..Coming home we rought 4 bottles of the different kind og rums and stuff and wrapped them in a towel 2 broke so I dont know if it was the cabin pressure or my packing but you should be ok if you do the bubble wrap thing..Good luck

I buy booze in the one pint PLASTIC bottles, and put them in a heavy duty ziplock. they have nevr leaked in about a dozen time of doing this. But watch out for shampoo bottles and simular, the tops tend to open and leakleak.
